The 2006 Winter Olympics

Bardonecchia and surrounding resorts hosted the 2006 Winter Olympics.  

Bardonecchia specifically hosted all of the snowboarding events including the half pipe and downhill events.

The half pipe (snowboard park) remains open each year with entry via an additional pass (available from the lift pass office).

The Olympic village (one of three) is also located in Bardonecchia (passed en route to the slopes).

Bardonecchia benefited from significant investment during this period, including piste and infra structure improvements.  A number of ski lifts were upgraded (including a new cable car to the Jaffreau ski area).
